Dan Abrams wants to know why we don't want Hillary on the ticket with Obama. Like most of the pundits pushing the Nightmare Ticket, Abrams doesn't "get" Obama.
Hillary represents everything Barack is dedicated to overcoming. It would be the height of hypocrisy for Obama to offer any Clinton a role in his administration. It would signal that his talk about establishing a new way of doing business was just talk, symbolically legitimize unreformed insiders, and suggest that he was conceding a cornerstone of his agenda before even winning the election. He'd risk losing his core supporters, which would strip his campaign of its heart. It would be suicidal to the mission.
Hillary is loathed because she's an arrogant user who has a lousy track record. New York can attest to her failure to deliver on her promises; anyone who's been following the campaign knows she can’t differentiate between fantasy and reality. Her foreign policy positions come in two flavors: undifferentiated adulation and total obliteration. And she’s got a really troublesome appendage in the form of her husband.
I don't think Edwards is the right VP, but I also don't like the idea of gender tokenism, especially with Sebelius. On the campaign trail, I just don't think her virtues would adequately offset her incredible lack of dynamism. Obama needs to go in the other direction, and tap someone who has presence and can command an audience, but serves as a counterpoint to his style. Webb seems to fit the bill.
People talk as though there is only one woman capable of being Pres or VP of our country. The truth is that there are a number of woman in state gov and Congress who are as qualified for the position as anyone running. I think it would be good for Obama to select a woman under 55 with gov. chops who would be a team player and would be able to take up the reins once his term is over. Hillary Clinton is not the only woman available and, probably for many of us,, not the best woman for the job.
Right now, Clinton is being vetted against Edwards.
Edwards' endorsement buys his opportunity.
However, Clinton's opposition ensures that Edwards must earn his VP slot.
The results of the remaining primaries will show the differences in strength of either candidate.
Again, the electorate is being used to its fullest advantage.
That's baseball. That's business. That's politics. That's life.
She said both she and McCain were qualified to be Commander-in-Chief, Obama was not. She said she and McCain had a "lifetime of experience" and Obama gave a speech in 20002. When is it OK to try to demean a member of your own party in favor of a Republican? What would she have done if Obama had said something like that? How do we know she would not work against him so she could run again in 2012? If I were Obama, I sure wouldn't trust her.
She stepped way over the line and should get out of the Democratic party.
Dan Abrams is what we call a knuckle head - so what Washington, supedelegates and the media will tell the voters who should be the vp - ha, let the media keep bringing up Hillary's name as a possible VP and making their suggestions about some great dream team - Nobody wants to see Hillary even go back and be a senator what with her disrespect for a large democratic block of voters - you don't insult one minority voting block and think that you deserve to respresent as a vp the other minority block - that's what was wrong with Hillary's complete campaign message - nothing made sense - Dan Abrams, stick to the knuckle head issues of your show -

Take me out to the derby...

"Mudcat" comments were on the mark!
Hey Roy, "Oregon" is pronounced "Ore-i-gun" with a dactylic meter. Let me know when you need to pronounce "Willamette"!
More seriously, your comments in this clip were great.
