I'm a Hillary fan, but always reluctant to say so because of the poisonous, knee-jerk response to that admission.
Most of my friends, mostly males--say 6 months ago-- were ardent Hillary supporters. And then the Iowa results, the Bill Clinton eruptions, the Hillary missteps, the Obama surge, and the fact that everyone wants to vote for the winner. A new, refreshing, re-inventing moment. We need it.
So, we're on to the next level of play. Barack is clearly the choice.
BUT he has to lose his cockiness, his "glittering generalities" speech, which (admittedly) is soaring, and moving but insubstantial. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? Speak to us, don't direct us to your website.
Barack, we don't need to hear what you believe. All of us with a pulse will agree with hope, health, harmony.
WHAT are you going to do to accomplish that??
Don't just inspire us with you brilliant rhetoric, GIVE US SOME SENSE of how we'll go about that.
And honor Hillary Clinton in the process.
You may not need her as VP, but you DO need us who believe in her insight, wonkiness, competency, drive, "grace and grit", to make our party whole
BEWARE! Anyone pushing the Hillary VP is pushing the republican agenda.
If Hillary (a snowball chance in hell) became VP. Every Negative ad would be about the clinton's baggage. You would never see or hear from Obama again.
This is an assumption that is a big mistake, right up there with thinking that all women vote only on the basis of a pro-choice position and that states like Pennsylvania can be taken for granted.
It's too an important an election for us to sit out and while Sen. Obama may well win us over, he has a lot of work to do, thanks in part to his surrogates who have insulted huge parts of the Democratic base by stereotyping Clinton supporters as everything from old to uneducated to racist.
i voted for obama because of his message of change as far as i can see if he pick s hillary for vp then he s just another politian that lie s to get elected and it s still same old same old in washington
After watching Hillary's splendid speech Saturday-- concession- but great reconciliation for those elderly women who hopefully won't go over to the Same McCain-- God help 4 more years bushed..
uh...if those elderly or otherwise fems truly CARE about "issues" dear to their hearts/minds/souls...there is NO WAY they COULD vote McCain and this nonsense that if Hillary is NOT opn the ticket , well HURUMPH !!! GET A REALITY CHECK...You honestly think that misplaced feminista loyalty is going to trump the ISSUES and WHO WOULD HANDLE THEM MOST FAVORABLY AT THIS STAGE ? Those that claim that their feelings are too disrespected by the Obama camp, Yeah, right...so cut off your noses or whatever and frankly doubt there are actually OTHER issues you can NOT really get over and so no matter, you really would never vote Obama anyway but there ARE more of us that will , so get use to THAT reality as well !!!
Dan Abrams really needs to see a doctor about his obsessive compulsive disorder. His constant talk of Obama needing Hillary on the ticket is so irritating that I don't even watch his show anymore.
Comedy Central's Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the best sources for political news on TV.
I used to really like him...the whole "I'm a lawyer, I call them as I see them" thing hooked me.
Turns out that he's just as biased as every other talking head on MSNBC, What's worse is that he's so bullheaded that you cannot disagree with him. Once he forms an opinion, you can't talk to him; it's like arguing with a wall.
...LOL, Abrams is NOT the only one trying to promote the Hillary NEED for the Obama ticket and it is and remains MALARKY and more to having to fill their airtime. Loved the Obama camp stating that there will be NO PROLONGED HARANGUE that THEY will co-operate with regarding this subject as to who WILL BE the VP choice . GOOD STANCE and they need to stick with it. If the Clinto pushers were smart, THEY WOULD BACK OFF for the more they push her, the less her chance of procuring that spot and for many , MANY good reasons that become more obvious the longer they drag that "push" on!! TIME TO BE OVER THE HILLARY JABBERINGS, the time NOW is to focus on electing OBama and putting the onus on McCain !!!
Hey guys, there is a new ad out . Guess who is running it. You are right
the repubs. It hits Senator O hard and Guess who is saying negative things about
him. Yup You guessed it HILLARY. They are taking snipets from some of the
negative statements she made about him and using it against him. Her being his
running mate is out of the question.
The same thing happened in 1980 when Reagan/Bush slugged it out in the Republican Primary's and Reagan picked Bush as his running mate. Obama/Clinton is a viable combination.
uh, PLZ GET A REALITY CHECK>>>>THERE IS NO WAY A OBAMA / CLINTON ticket is VIABLE for she fully represents SAME-O POLITICKING AS USUAL , hence NO CHANGE, NO REAL CHANGE and THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH !! The nonsense of her surrogats etill trying to promote her as THE logical choice to gather those (supposed) 18million voters...HAH !!! HILLARY ON THE TICKET WILL GUARENTEE A LOSS for her additon to the ticket will prove ALL OF 'EM SPEAK EMPTY WORDS and BUT PANDER !!! No, would not vote McCain, but will NOT vote a OBAMA /CLINTON ticket either !!!
looks like people got to the moe correction quick. i was just heartened that he made a simpsons reference where he said "it was like that one episode where..." without even mentioning the title of the show. thats how all the people who grew up with it refer to it, there's only one show that gets the coveted "doesn't even need to be put into context" title.
Roy, you have my vote to represent the SANITY wing of the Democratic party. It's hard to decide which is more compelling: Wexler's pragmatic passion, or your logical wit.
But, judging from this exchange, it's clear the real "dream ticket" is:
Sekoff-Wexler '08
(sorry Robert, I'm a sucker for Simpson analogies)

I couldn't have said it better myself, you've expressed it perfectly!

Obama/Fiengold
Obama/Gore
Obama will pick up most of Hillary voters and the one he doesn't get probably after looking a McCain will not vote at all.

As compared to Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann who can always be trusted to never say anything favorable about Sen. Clinton
I quit watching him too after his constant Hillary for VP ranting. I liked Abrams a lot before they gave him this show/format.

Thank you Roy for making your point, Dan Abrams hates it when someone defends Obama. Good analogy as well.
Thats exactly what it is Lobster stuff with Tacos. Guess who is which.

It's a two-fer. The ad uses Hillary's words against Obama, not only for the ideas that they express, but also because it continues to fan the flames.

I think that was Moe?

Anyone quoting "good" Simpsons episodes can come to my BBQ...lol...great example he used also.
D'OH ! When's the BBQ? lol
Wow, I'm extremely impressed by Roy Sekoff. This guy is level-headed and extremely quick on his feet! Bravo, Roy.
