How about a president who has actually READ the constitution? How about a president who TAUGHT the constitution? How about a president who was a constitutional college LAW PROFESSOR? How about a president who was the head of the HARVARD LAW REVIEW. How about a president who had a civil liberties LAW PRACTICE doing pro-bono work for those who needed a voice?
Look at Clinton and Edwards, what kind of LAW did they practice? What kind of compensation did they get for their "experience"?
Who is working "for the people"? Who really knows and believes in the Constitution of the United States?
I must have watched a different debate from the one you are discussing in this video. The debate I watched had Hillary Clinton implying that we would be less vulnerable to a terrorist attack if she were president. Tim Russett must have picked up on the same implication as he questioned Hillary about it. She did not answer the question. While I agree that terrorism is a serious issue and needs to be discussed, I didn't feel Hillary was discussing the issue as much as she was fear-mongering. And by the way, Dan, you are following in the footsteps of Chris Matthews - you ask a question or raise an issue and then either answer it yourself or talk over your guests trying to respond. I don't watch your program or Chris's very often anymore because of that. When I watch a program such as yours or Hardball, I am looking for a host who can frame an issue (succinctly) and then toss the ball to the guests - I'm interested and open to hearing a variety of opinions. I'm not interested in hearing how many different ways you and Chris can ask the same question while managing to get your own slant into the mix.
I despeartely want one of the Democratic candidates to say, "What we don't need in the White House is a Republican who wets his pants every time Osama bin Laden releases a video! We need a President with the courage to manage the threat of terrorism but not rip to shreds our Constitution because they are so afraid of a fringe group of terrorists that they can't think straight. This is a manageable threat that can be dealt with strategically, smartly and courageously. If you believe we should be cowering in fear over the threat of terrorism, vote Republican. If you have the courage and wisdom to see the terror threat for what it is, then vote Democratic. It's time for Democratic leadership in the White House!"
