The only problem with Pat Buchannan is that these middle of the road 'liberals' the media throws out in contrast to him either aren't quick enough to rebut the far right talking points, or really buy into the 'far left' argument that he makes. Take gun control, for instance -- far left would be banning all firearms, a moderate position would be for sensible gun control, and the far right (which is most Republicans) want no restrictions (except for those illegals, drug felons, or others that aren't part of their cult.)
No doubt about it - the second anything weakens for Obama, the talk of Clinton starts to pick up like a virus taking hold.
Only 52% of Hillary Clinton supporters say they are going to vote for Obama in November and 20%+ say they will support McCain according to a Wall Street Journal survey out just yesterday. Sure some of these people will come around on their own but many will follow through with their threat and vote for McCain -- or just stay at home.
My home state of New Mexico was won in 2000 by only 366 votes. Every single vote we can get matters. Obama supporters may not like Hillary supporters but they are voters who could make the difference this fall.
I don't think they fired him - just moved him back to a correspondents role. I think the problem was that he was good but not a rating blockbuster.
Adding Rachel really does seal MSNBC as the liberals alternative to Fox between 8pm and 10pm EDT.
Biker buddy ... easy rider ... which do you think is the "pretty" one.
Facinating, yet this isn't a game, even though people are rooting hard on both sides. I want all the hard bitten fighters here that won't consider HRC as VP to go ahead and join the Republican party if O loses. Or are you secretly already leaning that way?
Me neither thought that before, but the choice might be, should be Hillary. Here is why:
If he failed WITHOUT Hillary, he will never have another chance (or, at least very difficult); if he lose WITH Hillary, he can say: "I told you so." (In this case McCain was that bad.)
Of course he has a big chance to win with Hillary since the race now is heading or already entered in the territory only Bill and Hillary feel comfortable, opposed to what McCain promised before. (Because McCain simply has no other choice.)
If you focus on truthfulness, the race has been over long time ago. Obama won. Obama won American spirit that is decent, and he won world spirit. (If he is only a celebrity, how could it be that wherever he goes, the top leaders of the nations wanted to greet him not from obligation but from the heart and without slightest hesitations!) Only the rest of this race is procedural matter. Before-convention poll, after-convention surge, mud sling and on and on. It's more of Bill and Hillary's job. In that way Obama can keep going the road he should focus on.
earthandfire I hate to burst you bubble but it is not Hillary. Blacks will never vote
for her.
Please, please, please Rachel, when you take that time slot, don't invite Pat Buchanan.
Pat is an excellent foil. Lately he's been creeping into the middle of the road adviser, but he's still plenty of fun when one can take him to task.
i hope hillary doesn't get the VP spot, anyways they will lose in November, the problem is Obama, whatever the combination he might be in.
perhaps he should txt "I decided to select myself for VP"
During the primaries, I hated Hillary and right after the primiaries I was shouting NO!
Two maonths ago, I was fluctuating from KATHLEEN SEBILIUS, CHUCK HAGEL, JOE BIDEN, WESLEY CLARK.
A week ago, I was firmly for Joe Biden being the VP.
Today....now...I think Obama need Hillary. Otherwise, the race could be too close to call and Obama could well lose in November and we are left with this old war monger McCain.
I think Clinton would be a good choice. It's a brave choice, and a dramatic one. And Biden wants to be Secretary of State.
It's a stupid choice, Senator O is not a stupid man1
alikakbar Senator O can't win without the Black vote, but he can win with
the C's it's up to him. We will not vote for HRC! It's up to him.
P.S. Patt doesn't know what the heck he is talking about... and everyone on the panel is over stating Hillary's affect....
The whole thought process is off if your base using August poll numbers to justify Hillary. She has to much negative baggage to try and bring her on. She would not help at all. The only reason these talking heads want her on the ticket is because the GOP is sullivating at the oppurtunity of her being on the ticket so they can dig up all her drama. She would not energize anything but p-o'd supporters. Obama needs to win with someone he can trust. If this blow hards knew anything they would know that Obama said over a year ago that he would not ever chose someone based just on winning or what they preceive to be able to do for them in particular states.
Picking Hillary would send a really great message and it would help to mend the wounds from the primary and post-primary.
Hillary supporters feel really blown off and insulted -- and telling them to "get over it" just ticked them off even more. Obama supporters may not respect Hillary supporters but there are a lot of them who could be enthusiastic volunteers and all of them are voters that should be courted.
Obama picks Hillary he loses ... guaranteed.
Please elaborate. I don't think there are that many Obama supporters who would have not backed Clinton if she had won the primaries. However, there are quiet a few Clinton supporters who would not vote for Obama if he doesn't put her on the ticket.
With who. I am black and she insulted me and my race. I am never going
to forgive her for what. What does she have to offer. she is broke and ran
a racist campaign. that divides the races. No ! my people are not going to suck this one up
and Senator O knows it. We have been loyal for years to the Dem party
but it "s over if he disrespect us and goes with Hillary
I assume you are a Republican.
I've been all over the map on this issue.
Right after the primiaries I was shouting NO!
A month ago, I was firmly for Biden being the VP.
Now...I think he needs Hillary. Otherwise, the race could be too close to call and Obama could well lose in November.
how many democrats do not want him?
look, i don't know if its the right choice or not, but i must say, i think that hillary has been totally irresponsible since the start of the year with the way she's handled these situations - undermining a democratic run for the white house if its not her. she started this whole mess with all her supporters, now she has to finish it, either by telling them all to shut the eff up immediately and get on board, or, possibly, maybe, being on the ticket. i'd prefer a real attack dog like biden or clark or even kaine, but i'm honestly gonna vote for obama either way.. who in their right minds is still undecided?? that's the main reason i don't understand politics these days..
What is he going to do with his Afro-American base. I don't think he want us
to vote for the Green Party. Hillary I go bye, bye.
