No. 19 Oklahoma State handles McNeese State 89-56
STILLWATER, Okla. — Andrea Riley had 22 points and eight assists and No. 19 Oklahoma State bounced back from its season-opening loss with a strong second half in an 89-56 win against McNeese State on Tuesday night.
The Cowgirls (1-1) fell behind 7-2 early but grabbed a 38-26 lead at halftime and then pulled away by shooting 61 percent in the second half.
Riley, a preseason All-America selection, scored six straight points at the start of the second half and McNeese State came no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
Kristin Hernandez came off the bench to score 17 points for Oklahoma State and junior college transfer Tegan Cunningham added 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting in her Gallagher-Iba Arena debut.
Shante' Perry led McNeese State (0-3) with 18 points and Caitlyn Baggett scored 15.
Megan Byford had 10 rebounds for Oklahoma State, which had a 46-30 edge on the boards and outscored McNeese State 32-12 in the paint.
Oklahoma State hasn't lost a non-conference home game since falling 75-68 in double overtime to in-state foe Tulsa in 2005. The Cowgirls will play four of their next five games at home.
The Cowgirls lost 77-68 at then-No. 8 Duke on Friday in their season opener.
