North Florida defeats Kennesaw State 66-44
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Matt Sauey scored 15 points to help North Florida defeat Kennesaw State 66-44 on Friday night and win its first Atlantic Sun Conference game of the season.
The Ospreys (3-12, 1-4) ended a four-game losing skid while the Owls (5-8, 1-3) have now lost six games in a row.
Sauey hit 7-for-9 from the field as four North Florida players scored in double figures. Cortez Riley added 13 points, Eni Cuka had 12 and Kyle Groothuis had 10.
Jon-Michael Nickerson and Jonathan Whipple scored 12 points apiece for Kennesaw State.
The Owls hit just 17 of 55 shots from the field and were 1-for-11 from 3-point range. The Ospreys, who led 35-28 at halftime, made 24 of 57 field goals for the game and were 5-for-14 from beyond the arc.
North Florida also took a 48-33 rebounding advantage, with Germaine Sparkes grabbing 13 for the Ospreys.
