Duquesne beats Sacred Heart 45-42
FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Charlie Leventry kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired and Duquesne beat Sacred Heart 45-42 on Saturday.
Leventry, a freshman punter, was kicking for the first time because the Dukes' regular kicker missed the game with an illness.
The field goal capped a combined 45-point fourth quarter from both teams.
Larry McCoy had five touchdowns and 121 yards rushing for the Dukes (3-7, 2-5 Northeast Conference). Dukes' quarterback Kevin Rombach completed a school-record 86 percent of his passes (26-for-30) for 252 yards.
Dale Fink went 22-for-28 passing with 245 yards and six touchdowns for the Pioneers (2-8, 2-6). Steve Tedesco caught 12 passes for 144 yards and four touchdowns for the Pioneers.
Fink hit Brian Friedman on a 2-yard touchdown pass, then hit Tedesco for the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 42 with 1:10 to play in the game.
