Birmingham: Big transfers could disrupt record run
LONDON — Birmingham plans to get a new striker in the January transfer window, while hoping to maintain the harmony of a team that is unbeaten in 11 Premier League matches.
It's the club's best run in 101 years.
Vice chairman Peter Pannu told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the club's remarkable run is "very conducive to attracting players of the highest caliber."
After Carson Yeung's October takeover, Birmingham was only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Now it is seventh, three points below the European places.
But Pannu says he doesn't "want to demoralize the current players" by making too many additions to the squad. He says clubs are raising prices because of Birmingham's soaring fortunes.
