CHINESE EXCLUDED?: An executive of Chinese telecoms equipment giant Huawei Technologies says he is concerned that new Australian laws to protect communication networks from cyber-attacks could exclude companies from work simply because they're Chinese.

ONCE BARRED: Huawei's Australian subsidiary was barred on security grounds last year from working on a national broadband network that is now under construction.

COMPETITIVE EDGE: Huawei Australia's chairman John Lord told an Australian parliamentary committee hearing that the country could lose its competitive edge if it excludes companies from sensitive projects based on their nationality alone.
