NEW YORK — They partied like it was 1999 – the audience and the musicians at a Prince tribute concert at Carnegie Hall.

More than 20 performers including Elvis Costello, The Roots and Chris Rock paid tribute to the icon in a two-hour-plus concert Thursday. They all joined together to close the show with "1999" as D'Angelo took the lead and the crowd danced away.

Many of the performers got into character as they sang signature Prince tunes. Soul singer Bilal was wild on "Sister," actress Sandra Bernhard impressed on "Little Red Corvette" and singer-songwriter Kat Edmonson captured the audience with "The Beautiful Ones." A pregnant Maya Rudolph, who performs Prince covers under the moniker PRINCEss with Gretchen Lieberum, danced and screeched on several songs.

The concert raised $100K for music education programs.
