NAIROBI, Kenya — One of the world's leading drug makers is partnering with Save the Children to save more lives in developing countries.

GlaxoSmithKline and Save the Children announced the move Thursday after the CEOs of the two organizations visited a remote health clinic in Kenya where they spoke to a mother who had lost three children to diarrhea.

The collaboration will see the groups share expertise and resources. One new initiative is to transform an antiseptic used in mouthwash into a gel to fight infections during childhood deliveries.

Andrew Witty, GlaxoSmithKline's chief executive, said his company has strong shareholder support for such projects.
