WASHINGTON — More than 6,000 employees of the Washington Navy Yard have been offered counseling in the 10 days since a gunman killed 12 people.

A specialized team of counselors has been at the site, working with people who say they've been anxious, sad and stressed since the Sept. 16 shooting.

Aaron Alexis, a former Navy reservist and IT contractor with mental health issues, fatally shot 12 people inside Building 197 before he was killed by a police officer.

Among those who have received counseling is Andy Wood, who was in the emergency operations center that morning. He says the experience was terrifying and he's still stressed by it.

Subtle reminders of the shooting remain present around the Navy Yard.
