ASHVILLE, Pa. — A relative says the woman involved in a deadly home invasion that killed her, her mother and her brother in central Pennsylvania had a long-running dispute with the family.
Virginia Cruse says her niece had "a hatred toward the family" that culminated in a Friday night's shootout in Ashville, about 40 miles southwest of State College.
Investigators said the father found his wife and son fatally shot, then in turn shot the two intruders. The father, identified by Cruse as John Frew, was not injured.
Cruse identified the victims as her 64-year-old sister Roberta Frew and the couple's 47-year-old son. She identified the assailants as Frew's daughter, Josephine, and her husband, Jeff Ruckinger.
