TORONTO (AP) — Former two-time world champion hurdler Perdita Felicien is retiring.
The 33-year-old Canadian, who made the announcement Thursday, won gold in the hurdles at the 2003 world championships and 2004 indoor worlds. She also won a silver medal in 2007.
Perdita holds the Canadian record of 12.46 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. However, her Olympic career was marred by disappointment.
She tripped over the first hurdle in the final at the 2004 Athens Games and didn't race at the 2008 Beijing Olympics because of a foot injury.
She failed to qualify for the 2012 London team after a false start in the final at trials.
