WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Police say a gas pipeline has exploded in a village in western Poland, killing three people and injuring 10.
Andrzej Borowiak, a spokesman for Poznan police, says three people are confirmed killed and 10 were hospitalized after the blast set fire to houses in the village of Jankow Przygodzki on Thursday afternoon. The hospital says one adult and one child are in serious condition. It is unclear if anyone is still missing.
Malgorzata Polkowska, a spokeswoman for Poland's pipeline operator Gaz-System S.A., did not immediately know what caused the explosion. The pipeline in Jankow Przygodzki is part of a local pipeline that is being modernized.
Local residents told TVN24 that people were running out of their houses crying after the blast.
