COLD SPRING, N.Y. (AP) — The state Department of Environmental Conservation has awarded a $75,000 grant for the design of a demonstration project aimed at making the Hudson River shoreline more resilient to sea-level rise and storm surges.

The project is in the Putnam County village of Cold Spring at the Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve.

The sustainable shorelines project is part of the Hudson River Estuary Program in partnership with the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission.

The work will involve improving the river bank to enhance habitat for aquatic species, reduce erosion, and enhance public use of the park.
