HOUSTON (AP) — Rashad Muhammad's 3-pointer with 1:32 left in the second half helped seal a big comeback as San Jose State beat Houston 72-68 on Saturday night.

Muhammad scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half for the Spartans (3-6), who trailed by as many as 15 in the game and 13 with 8:38 left in the contest. San Jose State used an 18-1 run over the next five minutes to take a 65-61 lead.

Muhammad's 3-pointer gave the Spartans a 68-66 lead and San Jose State held on down the stretch.

Jalen James scored 12 points, dished out 10 assists and pulled down 13 rebounds to record the second triple-double in school history. Devante Wilson added 16 points.

Jherrod Stiggers scored 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting for Houston (6-4). Brandon Morris added 17 points for the Cougars.
