HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Daveon Boardingham scored 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting and Matt Bingaya added 17 as Southern Mississippi rolled past Division-III St. Catherine 96-60 Saturday night.
The Golden Eagles (9-1) held a 20-18 lead midway through the first half, but surged ahead with an 11-0 run capped by a layup and dunk from Boardingham. Two more Boardingham dunks put Southern Miss up 43-29 at halftime.
St. Catharine pulled within 10 in the second half after two Raymon Austin free throws, but Southern Miss broke away from there, forcing nine turnovers in the midst of a 28-6 run.
Southern Miss shot 58.7 percent from the field. Chip Armelin had 13 points and had five of the Golden Eagles' 20 steals.
St. Catharine was 20 of 46 on field goal attempts, but committed 29 turnovers and were out-rebounded 39-25. Taron Franklin and Omar Skinner led the Patriots with 10 points each.
