LAKEWOOD, N.J. (AP) — The wife of the man fatally shot during a carjacking at an upscale New Jersey mall is remembering her husband with laughter and tears.
Jamie Schare Friedland told mourners at a funeral Wednesday that 30-year-old Dustin Friedland was the best husband she could have asked for. Her words were punctuated by laughter as she spoke of the fun times and tears as she recalled the loss.
The wife was nearby but unharmed when the shooting occurred Sunday night in the parking garage of The Mall at Short Hills.
Other mourners at a synagogue in Lakewood recalled Friedland as a friend to everyone.
A $41,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two suspects. They fled in Friedland's Range Rover, which was recovered in nearby Newark.
