Wall Street's six-day rally stalled out Friday as stocks ended the day mostly flat in quiet trading.
Bond yields continued to rise. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note climbed above the 3 percent mark. The yield hasn't consistently traded above that level since July 2011.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 1.47 points, or 0.01 percent, to 16,478.41.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 0.62 points, or 0.03 percent, to 1,841.40.
The Nasdaq composite fell 10.59 points, or 0.3 percent, to 4,156.59.
For the week:
The Dow is up 257.27 points, or 1.6 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 23.08 points, or 1.3 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 51.85 points, or 1.3 percent.
For the year so far:
The Dow is up 3,374.27 points, or 25.8 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 415.21 points, or 29.1 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 1,137.08 points, or 37.7 percent.
