One Night, Three US Premieres

Confession: I've walked down a red carpet, I've covered premiers from the red carpet but nothing prepares you for Bono. Yesterday evening I dashed out of the Huff Post office, with Tribeca maps, guides, press screening lists, pre-screening lists, publicity contacts, media kits, calendars and passes in hand.

Two minutes after I arrived at the Chelsea West I hear the rumble of bulbs, cheering and gasps coming from the beginning of the press line. Could they be yelling Bono? I looked up and along with Alicia Keys, director Paul Taylor and the stars of We Are Together there was he was. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean to detract from Paul Taylor's incredible documentary that tells of the Agape Orphanage in South Africa where a group of children use music and their voices to remember their difficult past but celebrate their hope strength for the future.

Just as Bono was directly in front of me, taking our questions and speaking passionately the film and the work he is doing, I became completely star struck and forgot to write anything down. But I can tell you this, Alicia, Paul, Bono and everyone part of this film are committed to making the Agape Orphanage a real home for these children and working with Keep A Child Alive in the fight against the worst health crisis in human history. By the end of the screening, it was clear that the children of the Agape orphanage were the only attendees to be in awe of.

Back to the carpet..

2 Days In Paris is Julie Delpy's gem. She writes, directs, edits, produces, stars in and even composes music for her crowd-pleasing directorial debut. Co-Star Adam Goldberg arrived first and was as hilarious as always. "This film is basically a documentary but with a call time." he explained. Like himself, his character can't speak French, is a little grouchy and prefers to be in the USA. While he says filming in France was a gift, the French crews eat lunch at 11 and drunk by noon. When asked about Julie wearing so many different hats for the film, he agreed and joked that in each scene she's wearing a different one (wink, wink)

Julie arrived a little after then her co-star, glowing with pride (and with her enormous bling). She told me the best part about her experience was shooting the gallery scene with her dad- her real dad. "He is extremely funny" and it was such a joy to act and direct with him.

Now I know what you are thinking. 2 Days in Paris sounds like yet another film where Julie walks around Paris with an American obsessively talking about relationships. But it is much funnier, and has a Woody-Allen-In-His-Prime feel to it. The two looked perfect last night and are perfect together on screen.

A few hours later, Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal arrived for the Premiere of Chavez. These two extremely talented (and extremely gorgeous) young men were thrilled to bring a Mexican hero to the festival and US audiences. "This is the best night of his life and I am the happiest Mexican in Tribeca." said Diego. He tells us more about his film, Chavez.
