Harvie began his comedy career in early 2002 in his hometown of Portland, Maine and moved to Los Angeles four years later. He began touring with iconic comedienne Margaret Cho as her opening act in fall 2006. Cho cast Harvie as a permanent cast member of her off-Broadway burlesque comedy hit, Margaret Cho's The Sensuous Woman. In spring 2007 Harvie began hosting and producing his own self-titled live comedy/talk show at the Los Angeles music and comedy club Largo, which lasted for two years. Some guests included Jane Lynch and Alan Cumming. Harvie toured theaters around the world with Cho through fall 2009. He appeared on Logo’s Wisecracks and One-Night Stand-Up, and on ABC's Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. In fall 2009 Harvie began his headlining career and has taken his one-person show to Melbourne International Comedy Arts Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, clubs, cruise ships and colleges all over the world. In 2010 he was voted among the top 25 college performers by Campus Pride. Additionally, he tours with a troupe of comics in recovery named We Are Not Saints, to raise money for nonprofit recovery-related organizations. In summer 2011 Harvie executive produced Maine’s first and only comedy arts festival, the Maine Comedy Festival. Ian regularly donates his time to LGBTQ fundraisers and mentors a small slew of young trans guys from around the country.

Ian's not just a queer comedian; he's the world's first FTM transgendered comic. Put in context, this makes his anecdotes about his own phobia of public restrooms all the more side-splitting. Ian's performances will make you think and wonder, but, most importantly, they will make you laugh.
