The Barrista, oil on canvas, 48
The Barrista, oil on canvas, 48"x48", 2012, previously shown in the juried show "Au Naturel," Clatsop CC Gallery, Oregon A friend of mine, who is in fact a well-regarded barrista, saw my work and asked to sit for me, which is great, because I had wanted to paint her and was too shy to ask a civilian - a non-model. I loved what we did together here.

Susan Bee, Fred & Adele, 2012, oil and enamel on canvas, 24" x 20". This painting was inspired by a black and white photograph of Fred Astaire and his sister Adele, who was his first dance partner. Fred’s jacket and bowtie explode with colorful forms while Adele’s dress is an allover pattern of dots and circles. The emphasis is on the sibling’s affection and the feeling is akin to a romantic comedy or musical.

Untitled (Street Performances) Concept Sketch, Broad Museum Intervention Archival Pigment Print, Mason Line 2012 (Photo: Nancy Popp) I photograph architectural and construction sites as an investigation and preparation for a potential climbing performance at the location. Using mason line, the same construction material used n the performances, I trace an imagined climbing trajectory through the building's visible structure. These concept sketches explore the overlap between the possible and the practically attainable in relation to the specific architectural site.
