Stop Letting Other People's Negativity Affect Your Mood

We cannot change other people, they will do what they want and act how they want. The only thing we can change is our reaction to them. Ignore their negativity, reply to them with a smile and show them that they have no power over you.

"I intend to not let my mood be affected by negative people around me" | Support Stephanie's Intent

It has happened to all of us - while driving, at the supermarket or on the subway. I remember forgetting to yield to a pedestrian once. Even though it was my mistake, it did not warrant the extremely negative and rude reaction of that person. I was completely crushed and depressed by the way she treated me. Why do we give other people so much power over us? I did not know that woman nor would I ever see her in my life again; but in that moment, her opinion of me erased all the positive feelings that I had. Our internal state very often mirrors people's attitude to us and that needs to stop. The only person that should have power over how you feel is yourself.

We cannot change other people, they will do what they want and act how they want. The only thing we can change is our reaction to them. Ignore their negativity, reply to them with a smile and show them that they have no power over you. Walk away from it when you can. If it is someone close to you, be honest and tell them that their attitude is unacceptable and you want none of it in your life. And most important of all - never reciprocate negativity. Rise above it and kill them with kindness.
