Don't Get Stuck in Monotony

"I intend to change up my day a bit and do things a little differently." | Support Lady-K's Intent

"Brother, stand the pain.

Escape the poison of your impulses.

The sky will bow to your beauty, if you do.

Learn to light the candle. Rise with the sun.

Turn away from the cave of your sleeping.

That way a thorn expands to a rose.

A particular glows with the universal."

-- Rumi

(Excerpt from "Tattooing in Qazwin")

At times, we get stuck in the day-to-day monotony of our lives. But it's important to call that monotony into question, to understand why we are the way we are. Take today as an opportunity to question some of the things you've taken for granted about yourself and the choices you've made. Think critically about the assumptions that you let rule your life. Do they still hold up? Could better habits be fostered instead? Ones that benefit us, as well as those around us? Through the practice of self-control, you can find freedom. Escape the poison of your impulses. There might be a learning curve, but when it comes to the self-improvement, it's not about how much you do, but the manner in which you do it. Make small changes that make sense to you and your life. If you want to take yourself on, first you must be willing to get to know yourself. Acknowledge your personal strengths and weaknesses. Because when we understand ourselves, we can get to know others better too. It will be difficult, but with difficulty comes ease. Don't stand in your own way. Instead, stand the pain.
