Who My Friends Are Voting For - And Why

Last week in my newsletter and on my personal Facebook page, I asked readers to weigh in on Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump for president. Out of 18 long, involved comments I received, only one was pro-Trump so I will start with that response.

Barbara H
. I find absolute corruption an absolute turnoff. Therefore, I find her despicable. Take a good look before you vote for her.

A few were ambiguous:
Edie D. If the American people could read the policies of the candidates as if it were a "Blind Study," I think we would get the right president.
Alfred L. Vote. There is no other choice.

Here are some of the pro-Hillary comments:
Abby P. I am voting for Hillary because I'm not a bigot, a misogynist, a xenophobe. I believe in what makes America great is that we do welcome those "huddled masses yearning to breathe free." Because it's my body, my choice. Because bullying and stomping around like a sullen toddler isn't presidential. Because I'm a "nasty woman" who will use my voice to vote.

Pamela B. I am pro-choice; pro-gun reform; pro-women; pro-kids; pro-equal rights and fair treatment for everyone regardless of gender, religion, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation; pro-marriage equality; pro-health; pro-science; pro-Israel; pro-democracy. Whether or not you think Clinton is a liar, her record in government supports these ideals, while Trump seems to oppose all of them. #ImWithHer

David M. I have a close family member who is bi-polar. He would have been denied health care and his health care costs would have led to bankruptcy. Thanks to Obamacare, he was able to get insured. Hillary has pledged to continue and improve Obamacare.

William L. Trump has few written policies and trying to track which side he is on a policy is difficult, because he has talked on both sides of the issues. Trump is the biggest liar of any known politician. This is from political stats. Trump has buddied up with the Dictator of Russia because he wants to build more Trump Towers in Moscow, but Putin is using him for other reasons. Trump can be easily manipulated. Hillary was able to get under his skin, and he lost it. You can see this from the debates. We do not want him with the atom bomb launch codes.

Richard N. Clinton will refocus our country on the needs of everyone, not just the 1%. She will seek to raise taxes on the very rich, and use the increased revenue to repair infrastructure (which will increase employment) and make college debt free; she will strengthen Obamacare; and she will seek to bring some sanity to gun laws.

Carol J. I'm with Pamela - and #I'mWithHer

Mindy H. She and I are roughly the same age and were fighting the glass ceiling at the same time. Hers, of course, far thicker glass than mine in the corporate world, but much the same struggle against a 'good old boys' regime...Learning everything Hilary was doing to make our families stronger and better, while I struggled to raise my child without my ex-husband's help, Hillary gave me hope...I had no help, no day care, no financial support, no healthcare and so had to work too many hours a week to be a good single mom... with Hillary Clinton for president, I believe it will bring us closer to being a family friendly America.

Amy G. I've never considered myself a feminist, but given this election year, I now realize that I'm more a feminist than I thought...I feel that if Trump, or, for that matter any, tea party/ultra conservative GOPer becomes president, women in the US will begin to be treated as chattel, just as women in Saudi Arabia are treated - not as equal human beings capable of making decisions.

Francine W. At a Trump rally, one woman was interviewed on why she is voting for Trump, and she said, "I would rather be groped than lied to." This is the mentality!!

Michelle B. A huge issue for me is no prior political experience at all. I have watched this man since the 70's use the system in every way to his advantage. He has always shown us who he really is. His total lack of character did not matter as a businessman, It matters greatly for a president!

Bev L. Being almost 90, I remember Hitler's rise to power and it reminds me of Trump's. At first, we all thought Hitler was a clown and shallow showman. When he started preying on the disgruntled, garnering huge support, we stopped laughing.

Dawn N.
Watch the CNN documentary called "Hate Rising" and you will see why Trump is the most dangerous pseudo politician in American history. Since the start of his campaign White Supremacy groups have increased by 30 per cent. ...Coincidence????? I think not!

Neil C. 1. She is the most qualified.
2.The Donald has the lead role in the 21st Century version of CLOCKWORK ORANGE.

Once again, God Bless the United States of America and God Bless our ability to express ourselves and cast a vote for the candidate of our choice.
