Jack Darin has worked for the Sierra Club, Illinois Chapter since 1989, and been its Director since 1992. His position entails working with citizens, volunteers, public officials, business, and labor across Illinois to find and advocate for solutions to environmental problems threatening Illinois communities, and leading efforts to strengthen the membership and work of the Sierra Club in Illinois. He has worked on a wide variety of conservation and pollution issues, with federal, state, and local agencies with environmental responsibilities, and with private sector stakeholders.

Darin has worked cooperatively with a wide range of stakeholders to clean up pollution, protect natural areas for future generations across Illinois, and promote smart energy policies. He has been appointed to numerous study, advisory, and working groups and task forces by various public agencies seeking to craft strategies to protect Illinois' environment.

As the director of Sierra Club’s political efforts in Illinois, and as an individual, Darin has also worked to elect pro-environment Democrats and Republicans to local, state, and federal office. His electoral work has included campaign planning, message development and delivery, fundraising, and acting as environmental and strategic advisor to many candidates. As a volunteer, Darin is the Vice-President of the Ridgeville Park District in Evanston, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
