The air is still on the cool mountain night as Obama speaks to the nation. The speech has the feel of a State of the Union more than a campaign speech. The state of the union, according to Obama, is not good.

"Eight is enough," says Obama of Republican rule. Eight years that have led the country in the wrong direction, according to the nominee.

The crowd of 75,000 is in a trance in this stadium.

"If John McCain wants to have a debate about who has the judgment and temperament to be commander in chief that is a debate I welcome," declares Obama, directly addressing what is perceived as his main weakness. The crowd jumps to its feet in a roar.

"Let me spell out exactly what change would mean if I am president, " says Barack Obama here at Invesco Field.

Obama recounts his family story of diversity and hardship to point out that, "I am not sure what kind of celebrity lives John McCain is thinking of, but this is my life."

"This election has never been about me, it's about you," Obama states.

In this election, he says, "change should not come from Washington, change must come to Washington."

Yes, people are in a trance! With Obama as well as with Bush.

All things that the Republican leaning talking heads suggest are Obama's weak spot.
Today I saw a background with the statement "A mile high, an inch deep" No matter what Obama says, the right will spin it and denigrate it. I want Obama to be our next president, but given tha fact that Diebold voting machines admittedly cheat, I think it will be 2000 all over again with Obama winning the election, and McCain being sworn in.

Live from "Mile High Stadium" . We should reclaim our past as well as recapturing our destiny.

I was there in Mile High and all I can say is that I am glad I made the 3 mile walk and the 5 hour wait. Even after all of that, Senator Obama really hit it out of the park!

God help us if the republicans win. We'll keep borrowing money from China to buy oil from the middle east. Our country is in emergency mode, and if we don't do something fast, our already trillion dollar deficit will cause us to tank. Repubs are to blame for not protecting us during 911, and for not capturing Bin Laden. Repubs should stick to being businessmen instead of trying to govern the US because they do not know what they are doing, look at Katrina, just plum embarrassing..

I know, I heard that too----soooo powerful and there was harvest of riches of powerful words in that speech. Got to sit down some time and pluck them out like raisins in bread.

Bill Clinton said: The world is more impressed by the power of our example than the example of our power.

Who said words are not important!

JFK said: "Ask not..." I am sure we can all complete that.

What first got me hooked on Obama was his obvious leadership qualities and ability to organize people. I said for years that Washington won't change until Americans themselves rise up and demand change.
In Obama I heard a leader saying get organized and follow me to Washington DC! Get organized and force the power brokers to work for the people instead of the special interests. The Republicans want to paint him as a dreamer because, like a great union organizer, he'll bring the power of many voices and votes to bear on the decisions being made in DC.
This may be the average American's last chance to take back the country from the special interests.
