This video is published on Why Tuesday? as well as OffTheBus.

Yesterday I brought you video of my Iowa encounters with Barack Obama and Ron Paul, both who were more than willing to talk election reform and the state of America's voting system. The Why Tuesday? Candidate Challenge ended yesterday, and only five of the sixteen candidates on our list didn't submit a video response with their feelings about when and how we vote by our October 31st deadline.

Saturday night, Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson officially became the first presidential candidate to turn down an opportunity to discuss the state of America's voting system and respond to the Why Tuesday? Candidate Challenge. I spoke with both his Senior Advisor, Rich Galen, and his Midwest political director, Andrew Dorr at the Iowa GOP's Reagan Dinner this Saturday in Des Moines. Neither passed along my request to Senator Thompson, and the Senator himself turned down two opportunities to talk with me. Watch the video for the play-by-play.

My OffTheBus colleague Jay Wagner was also at the Reagan Dinner and noted how Thompson and Mike Huckabee energized the crowd. Huckabee also energized election reform advocates by stating that he would be open to an Election Day Holiday and/or weekend voting on a state-by-state basis.

Senator Thompson is, of course, still welcome and encouraged to submit a response to the Candidate Challenge. All he has to do is follow the instructions here.

Why Tuesday? is an effort to make election reform an issue that our politicians cannot afford to avoid. Read more from OffTheBus by clicking here.
