Actually, it is not as messed up as it sounds.

There were some ral problems in 2004, though.
The Republicans screwed up the Democrat caucus. they only had George W. bush to vote for, so many Repukes contaminated the Democratic caucus's in order to beat Dean, who was by far the most viable candidate and who they feared. I saw the busses from the Halleluyah Cristian Academy empty their loads of obviously mostly first time caucus goer's.
Just check the stats: in 2004, the Democratic caucus numbers were up over 50% above the 2000 vote.
That is how the Democrats ended up with the much weaker John Kerry as the nominee, along with the Red Death Media's manipulation of the isolated scream by Dean, while filtering out the crowd noise.

This was cool to watch... I did not know all of this...
I think there is a ring of BS to this system...
It just doesnt ring fair.
How can you shut down a vote?
Who decides who is a viable candidate?
How corrupt.

A "secret Ballot?'

Cmon.

We allow this?
I get more disgusted every day.
We must get back to the real laws that have governed this country.
Is this way for Iowa even constitutional?

The value of the caucuses, however primative they are, is that people talk to each other to debate candidates.

A candidate is viable if he has 15% of the attendees in his corner. If you have just under what you need, you can either get someone to come over who is an extra from another viable canddate, or if another candidate is not viable, those people will be available to join you if they want.

The emphasis in the Iowa caucuses is dialog. We Iowans like to be involved.
