I am one of those Iraqis who grew up away from Iraq in Damascus and London as my parents were both on Saddam’s wanted list thanks to their speaking out against his despotism. Since 2003, most of my family returned to Iraq, while I have made regular visits there, the last time being in the summer of 2009. I am currently living in Washington D.C. where I am completing my Masters at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. Prior to coming here, I completed my BA in History and Politics at Oxford University.
