#EndingFossilFuelSubsidies in Pictures, Video & Tweets: Why Rio+20 Needs to Act

Citizens around the world are rallying for governments to clearly commit to phase out fossil fuel subsides at Rio+20. And here are some pictures, a video, and tweets which documents this strong public support.

Citizens around the world are rallying for governments to clearly commit to phase out fossil fuel subsides at Rio+20. After all, governments are subsidizing fossil fuels at a rate of 12 times what they provide to clean, renewable energy. That just doesn’t make sense on many levels, which is why a number of groups are focused on raising the profile of this critical issue.

As I recently said:

“Instead of subsidizing well-established corporations that destroy our planet, governments ought to be doing more to help support and develop more clean, renewable energy that can actually help our planet, reduce our energy consumption and revive our economies.”
