Dems Stand Up for America

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Today, the Democrats in the United States Senate stood up for the American people. Americans have been intentionally deceived by the Bush Administration regarding the rationale for war. We know that the American people were given bad information. Now we know that they also engaged in operations to stifle debate. In an effort to keep Americans from knowing the extent of the White House's efforts, Scooter Libby chose to perjure himself and obstruct justice. Now Scooter has been indicted for those crimes which he probably committed to cover up for Vice President Dick Cheney who seems to be an "un-indicted co-conspirator" in a national security leak.

Republicans in Congress committed to investigate how national intelligence was used to set the stage for war. Now, they are refusing to keep that commitment and the Democrats called them on the carpet today.

What are they afraid of America learning?

What was the role of Dick Cheney in the conspiracy to attack Joe Wilson by releasing national security information for political purposes?

America deserves answers. Our national security is at stake.

Good job Democrats.

We can only win the trust of the American people by fighting for them. We should do the same when it comes to Judge Alito. He is a threat to our notion of democracy and Democrats should be willing to go all way to a filibuster if necessary.

PS: Senator Reid should be congratulated for not playing inside parliament niceties and warning Frist of his intentions. The Democrats have tried to trust the Republicans time and time again only to have them screw us. Ask Tom Daschle and Max Cleland.
