Narratives are powerful things. Narratives built by the right wing noise machine are virtually invincible once they settle in.
Today, USA Today stepped right in one of the biggest lies of modern politics when it called Rudy Giuliani a "hero of 9/11." Let's be clear.
Rudy Giuliani is not a hero.
Rudy Giuliani was dumb enough to, against the advice of just about everyone, to put the command and control center for New York City in the only building on United States territory to ever be attacked by foreign terrorists in modern times.
The World Trade Center was attacked in 1993.
Rudy Giuliani put the emergency operations in a known terrorist target. This is not heroic. This is moronic.
So what happened on 9/11? Towers attacked. Giuliani goes to the Command and Control center. Oops. It's gone and we have picture after picture of Giuliani wandering the streets - because he had no place to go. Again, moronic, not heroic.
But just as when you point out that Hillary is electable (she did win almost every single county in New York State last fall fyi) or that the Republicans never passed the 9/11 Commission Recommendations (I got in a nice squabble about this on MSNBC this week with Cheri Jacobus) or that George Bush's flips and flops dwarf John Kerry's, you get an emotional reaction.
Facts are facts.
