Not to bring up a sore spot, but as your resident Life, Happiness and Weight Loss Coach, I've been wondering how y'all are doing with your January resolutions? Are they working for you?
Often, we start the year off with the best of intentions, but the days melt into weeks and before we know it, we find ourselves in the middle of February not having fully followed through on our promises to ourselves. We're left feeling disappointed, filled with remorse - feeling defeated, once again. Ugh, such a pity party!
According to University of Scranton Professor of Psychology, John Norcross, about 75% of people who make resolutions are successful for a couple of weeks, and then by February 1 the number drops to 50%.
AND THAT'S OKAY because truly this is a better time, a calmer time, a more balanced time, to step back, assess your situation, and set realistic goals. I consider January resolutions a warm up to the real thing. (Hey, did you see me post anything about January resolutions??? NO! You did not!!! Because, I was busy warming up.)
NOW ... having warmed up. Are you ready to move from a place of defeat and depression into victory and happiness?
Happiness is the key to everything, and I will tell you why. If you are NOT feeling happy with your life as a whole, it is very difficult to garner enough enthusiasm, drive and energy to make meaningful changes. You are on a downward spiral.
On the other hand, when you are feeling happy you are more than likely filled with enthusiasm, possibility (I adore possibility) and energy, and able to take on challenges of any magnitude, including happily saying "NO." to the Devil's Food!
We are entering a transitional time (not quite winter, not yet spring), which means that this is the perfect time to set reinvention and transformation into motion. This is the time to set realistic goals that manifest feelings of happiness, which in turn will send us on an upward spiral.
