It's time. Now. Before February 5th. If you wait, it'll be too late. You've won the popular vote, an Oscar and a Nobel Prize, and now it's time for you to give something back. Although somewhere in your mind you may think that there's a chance for you to rise from the dust of a brokered convention to claim the nomination for yourself, you must also know that this would not be the best thing for the Democratic party or the country. Not because you wouldn't make a great president, you would, but because of the inter-party civil war that we would need to go through first. We've seen it for the past few weeks. It seems that the Clintons (and believe me it breaks my heart to say this) will stop at nothing to get elected. And if they do, we will be faced with the same ugliness we had to live through in the 90s. Yes, Bill Clinton was a great president. Peace and prosperity were the order of the day, and that was good, but the political wars (in most cases not started by the Clintons) dragged this nation into the gutter, and the Bush regime has kept us there. It's time to rise above. It's time to believe that our politicians are good, and honorable. It's time to be inspired. Mr. Vice President, you've done incredible work these past few years, and you've made all of us proud. Now, like so many times before, we need for you to show us the way. History, by way of the future. Yes, we can.

The problem for Gore is there is no difference between Hillary and Obama. Gore is looking for something the Dems didn't produce -- a candidate with vision and integrity who is proposing meaningful change -- a withdrawal from lawlessness who will end the war and the policies that caused the war, who will abide by the Constitution and the rule of law, who will seriously attempt to deal with the environment and who will put forward a pro-working family agenda.
He is not looking for rhetoric to that effect, he is looking for a candidate who will actually make the effort.
As Hillary and Obama are the same person in terms of their records and what they are about, and neither is offering the kind of change necessary and both have been complicit in supporting Bush's lawlessness, Gore is remaining silent. Although he'll support whichever Democratic candidate who gets the nomination, he has enough integrity not to act as if one is better than the other. They both are equally awful.
I think Al Gore doesn't owe anyone anything. He should not endorse anyone for the party. If he endorses, it should be because he thinks the candidate is the best candidate. Nothing has shown that Obama is the best candidate. I haven't seen what he has done in the Senate that makes him the best candidate. We need to see if he can stand on his own. I haven't heard him stand up to what George W. has done to the country. I don't hear him protesting for the Constitution. If he had been vocal about issues other than his run for President, I would say, endorse him. But alas, we are here and we don't see footage of his voice in the Senate protesting George W. during the past several years. His voice was needed then, where was he? He has spent the past year campaigning. Campaign rhetoric is not action. He is a Senator now he has missed votes. Unfortunately, mainstream media gave us Hillary and Obama; the other candidates got ignored. I would still like to see Al Gore run! We don’t really need another candidate chosen by MSM, that’s how we got George W. MSM wanted to have a beer with him. I wish they would have left George W. at the bar.
Well said Jason. Al, we need you to endorse Obama NOW!
Bravo! Yes! Mr Gore endorse Sen. Obama and do it NOW! You know it's right and honourable thing to do.
Gore will endorse based on a complete scrutiny of each candidates enviro policy, not the drunk, wistful diatribe of Ted Kennedy...
Al Gore, Your Country Needs You...To Endorse the Democratic Candidate.
Actually we need you to run for president, Al. Let's have a candidate with principles who knows how to get things done. Oh, yeah. And one who already won once.
There isn't a more qualified or electable person available for the job.
I wish everyone would just agree that we really do need to hear what it is that Obama would do and how he would go about getting it done. I have been impressed with his ability to capture an audience but I need to hear more substance.
"It's time to believe that our politicians are good, and honorable.
Actually, the best thing Al Gore could do for the party and the country would be to run and get elected (again). However, it appears that will be possible only if Edwards gets enough delegates to prevent either Clinton or Obama from winning on the first ballot.
Considering rumors have it that Bill Clinton dove to stop Richardson from endorsing Obama, I can see the same sort of personal angst over a former VP endorsing your wife's opponent.
Agreeeeeeeeeeeed!
Gore lost to the politics of divisions and lies and can send a message by endorsing the politics of hope.
Yes.
Gore endorsed Dean remember. And also picked Elemer Fudd as a running mate. I think Big Al should stick to the issues and if he decides to run again, pick a running mate as if you were of sound mind. It helps.
The man should stay above the fray, take the high road and support the ticket.
Al Gore owes the nation? Are you kidding? Al Gore offered himself to a nation and a good chunk of the nation (and the politicos in FL and the Supreme Court) pretty much told him what he could do with himself a few years back...
And a good portion of the country still buys the line of garbage that he's preaching a fake religion about saving penguins and fictional global warming...
I'd say we owe Al Gore something.
Here's hoping he doesn't endorse anyone until a candidate is chosen. In all likelihood, the pipe dream of a Gore run is futile... but it wouldn't have been an interesting world if 2000 hadn't been handed to Bush... and it would have been an interesting campaign if Gore had decided to throw his hat into the ring. But for him to rediscover his taste for political gladiator fighting after all he's done and all the success and acclaim he's garnered..
Why would Progressive Gore endorse Republican Lite Obama? Why do so many progressives endorse Senator Obama when his policies are not progressive? It's like all the poor whites who vote for Republicans against their own better interests. OOPs sorry, I forgot for a minute all voters are supposed to vote with their emotions instead of their brains. My bad.
