There are many good reasons you missed the latest literary wonder in this age of picture book plenty. It came from a tiny publishing outpost in Michigan, Ontario, Norway. It was recommended for six-year-olds and your child is four. You do your browsing online, and it was labeled with the wrong keywords, or you were labeled by the wrong algorithm. It suffered poor marketing. It suffered no marketing. You blinked. You were blinded by Emeraldalicious.

The following all appeared - in these headlights at least - during the last several months, though in some cases their journey from printer to shelf proved altogether epic, if you are to believe their dates of publication. Yet here they still are, many odd and arresting, perched for the moment between everlasting obscurity and the wider, hopeful audience they so richly deserve.
