Countdown: Historic Arizona Recall of Tea Party President Pearce Pits People Vs. Corporate Lobbyists

Posted: 11/04/11 02:30 PM ET

Beyond the bread and butter issues of jobs, education, health care and immigration reform, when voters go to the polls next Tuesday in the historic recall election of extremist Arizona state Senate President Russell Pearce, they will also be taking part in a national showdown between corporate lobby influence and local grassroots campaigners in what many consider to be the opening salvo in the 2012 elections.

With nearly 90 percent of his campaign funds coming from outside his Mesa district, the self-proclaimed "Tea Party President" Pearce has ridden the corporate lobby gravy train of donations in his desperate bid to save his ultra-right-wing career. Pearce has out-raised his moderate Republican opponent Jerry Lewis by a 3-1 margin, pulling in donations from representatives in the prison, gun and other corporate lobby fronts.

Despite the challenging spending margin, Lewis, a former accountant and charter school administrator, has gained the support of an unprecedented and enthusiastic bipartisan campaign on the ground level. In a counter to a barrage of outside-funded Pearce TV ads, Lewis and his supporters will launch a massive get-out-the-vote effort over the next five days.

Architect of his state's notorious SB 1070 "papers please" immigration law, which Pearce wrote with the help of the shadowy American Legislative Exchange Council lobby front and other corporate lobbyists, Pearce's ranks also include right-wing billionaire Betsy DeVos and her American Federation for Children front, which has pummeled the Mesa district with outside mailings touting Pearce's bogus education record.

Nearly a century ago, Arizona's first state governor, George W. Hunt, warned his fellow Arizonans that a national showdown was taking place in their state. "The working class, plus the professional class, represent 99 percent," Hunt said, in a copper town in 1916. "The remaining 1 percent is represented by those who make a business of employing capital." Hunt declared: "It will be a happy day for the nation when the corporations shall be excluded from political activity...and vast accumulations of capital cannot be employed in an attempt to control government."

Long before Hunt and his labor shock troops ushered in one of the nation's most progressive state constitutions in 1912, the clash over Arizona's vast natural resources, its native and immigrant labor ranks, and its rooted inhabitants and carpet-bagging business interests had not only placed the state on the frontlines of American politics but also helped force our nation to come to grips with America's fundamental commitment to civil rights and democracy.

As part of their own nation battle over their state constitution, Hunt and the original Arizonan constitutional convention participants demanded one main concession: The right to recall elected officials who no longer represent the people. Once their constitution was approved by President Taft, the Arizona legislature overwhelming voted to make that plank an enduring part of Arizona's legacy.

As the nation watches, Arizona voters in Mesa's LD18 district will decide on November 8th if that historic legacy will be upheld.

Today;

The Day after the Recall of "Tea Party President Pearce, the Arizona Republic has a front Page picture of distraught Pearce and life fomer Mentor Sheriff Arpaio in front of Election Rigging HeadQaurters.

This pretty well explains why no investigation of the Unbeleivable Electorla Rigging and Manipulating Ringer Candidate Scheme has been started.

Arpaio , and Pearce's common Tea Party Pals, along with Pearce's Broither, and two Neices handled the Mrs. Cortes Ringer Candidate Felony Scheme!

I would't doubt that the Election Corruption Scheme if investigated could lead to Arpaio.

To: True Justice for All Criminals.

In any case I hope this is the Begining of a "New Era in America", one of "Good, and Brotherhood."

Not a continued Era of Extremist, and Hate Groups.

At least the title is right but alas no mention of the chamber of commerce and their wide support of illegals, more legal immigration, no e-verify, amnesty (even after the last 7 have shown us they are a total fail) and anything else they can do to keep wages down.

Why this author supports lower wages is the puzzle?

Undocumented immigrants are NOT the reason wages are depressed. Your leap of "logic" didn't connect.

Current Immigration Laws were called broken and dysfunctional by many
politicians and Mr. Obama himself. There are 4.5 American citizen children
who live every day in constant fear of losing one or both parents due to
deportation, there are thousands of American citizens who cannot adjust their
spouses status. American citizens face separation from their family members
for unknown period of time, possibly indefinitely.

Sign the Petition at http://wh.gov/b9y to return the value to the term : AMERICAN CITIZEN by:
Immediately adjusting immigration status of American citizen's immediate
family members (parents, spouses, children) to Permanent Resident.

Why would anyone sign this? People live in fear that their drug dealing parents will be arrested too, do you grant them amnesty from their crime? It's ridiculous to reward people for breaking the law.

Wow - you mean there are only 4.5 illegals with kids here right now?

Or is that 4.5 MILLION?

Lets see 4,500,000 X $15,000 = $67,500,000,000

That is what their education costs us. That is $567 that EVERY household in this country pays to educate the children of these criminals.

Imagine if all that money was spent on the kids of citizens. We'd probably be able to fund most of their college educations with those kinds of savings.

LOL. As if none of the money going into taxes if from these people. Like they don't buy groceries or gas or anything else. Please.

And let's see you send your kids to college for $567 a year. You sure get dramatic when it comes to money. How about when it comes to people?

Russell Pearce has had his clan, his Brother, his two Nieces, Mrs, Cortes, Tea Party Officials, and a couple thousand of Stellar LD.18 Voters engage in an Election Rigging/Manipulating Scheme which to me is un-beleivable, however Sadly True.
Many of the LD18 Voters that signed the Fraudulent Mrs. Ballot Petition did so with it in the hands of the Pearce Family, and even after being told that it was a vote siponing scam to help Russell Pearce be re-elected.

This Election Rigging/Manipulating Was a class five Felony according to Arizona Law.

All Persons knowingly involved in this Criminal Activity should be charged with their Crimes.

This seems like "Cult" Activity?

"What Part of Illegal does Pearce and his Clan not understand?"

Now these same Stellar (Felonious) LDS18 Voters will rather thatn vote for their Sham, or Mr. Lewis instead vote to re-elect Russell Pearce, in this "Latter Dy Saint" controlled , and Corrupted District.

Really you would want to re-elect someone who has AZ 49 in education and keeps taking funds out of the state.
