Jen Soriano is a Filipina-American writer, communications consultant, and social movement strategist based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  She is a leader in creative communications for social justice, specializing in grassroots participatory strategies to challenge race, class and gender bias and to move transformative stories through multiple mediums.  

Jen is currently Strategic Communications Coordinator for the RoadMap Consulting group. As a communications consultant, she has helped strengthen the communications effectiveness of dozens of community organizing groups and alliances, including the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, Causa Justa Just Cause, and Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth.

As a writer, Jen has worked with Mother Jones magazine, Free Speech Radio News, the Center for Investigative Reporting and Free Speech TV. She is currently a member of the War Times writers collective and a contributor to Organizing Upgrade.

Between 2002 and 2008, Jen co-founded the Center for Media Justice in Oakland (CMJ), CA along with CMJ’s Executive Director Malkia Cyril. She is currently serving as CMJ Board Chair and as a leader of CMJ's Echo Justice Initiative for movement communications.

Both Jen’s writing and her communications work are devoted to giving voice to social movements, to contributing to shifts in the current balance of power, and to telling stories for remembrance, healing and justice.
