Introducing Jennifer Bogut

Hi there, I became involved with Huffington Post as a volunteer contributor when OffTheBus was launched. I was a regular commenter and saw the announcement. This project is something that has always been in the back of my mind -- to hear political reporting from the people themselves, those who are actually living with the decisions made by the leaders -- and here it was, all ready for me to join.

I was among, I believe, some of the original reporters on the Huffington side of OTB....at least I think I was....I began by submitting a piece I wrote about why this was exciting and important to me. I then wrote a recurring column called "Stumping for God's Endorsement," which was reporting on the numerous religious offerings of the early primary candidates. Once the field whittled down, this was no longer a viable angle.

I moved over to moderate for HuffPo (Yes, there are real people who read all of the comments posted and who must decide to post or delete them!) and then came an email asking if I wanted to give editing a whirl. I submitted my practice piece and was lucky enough to be among those chosen.

I have done quite a bit of volunteer work in the past, but this is certainly the most enjoyable and interesting choice yet. I live in NJ with my husband and two 80-pound dogs. I am a drummer; hubby is a keyboard, guitar and bass player. I am an avid reader, quickly becoming addicted to a writer who catches me up. I currently -- for some inexplicable reason -- am only reading British authors: Terry Pratchett, J.K. Rowling, Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore.
