Jennifer Koppelman Hutt always knew she would end up on radio, but she thought her singing voice would get her there.

Instead, she became the co-host of a popular drive-time radio talk show and an acclaimed television show: “Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer” (Sirius/XM), and “Whatever, Martha!” Her self-deprecating humor, honesty, and willingness to talk about everything -– from grieving the loss of a parent, to transforming her body and spirit through healthy eating and exercise, to her obsessions with Hello Kitty and Pop-Tarts -– has won her legions of loyal listeners/viewers since 2005.

Like most working mothers, Jennifer’s career took a circuitous route. After finishing at Tufts University outside Boston in 1992, she graduated from Hofstra University Law School (yes she’s licensed and in good standing) and then studied voice and acting. Soon, Jennifer met her future husband, Keith Hutt. They married within a year and a half, settled in her hometown on Long Island -– right next door to her parents and her sister, Stacy -– and had two children. Once they reached school-age, Jennifer was finally able to focus on her career and the unexpected on-air opportunities that presented themselves.

Despite the surprising twists and turns that brought Jennifer into America’s cars and living rooms, she is no stranger to the entertainment business: her father, Charles Koppelman, was a legendary music producer (The Lovin’ Spoonful, Dolly Parton, Paul Anka, Cher, Eddie Murphy, The Four Tops, Barbra Streisand, to name only a few artists and groups he worked with), and her brother, Brian Koppelman, is a screenwriter, director, and producer (Rounders, Ocean’s Thirteen). That might explain her love of popular culture and her ease in front of a microphone or camera, but her approachable ‘everywoman’ style explains her appeal: Jennifer connects with her audience, especially women, in a way few media personalities can.

Jennifer’s newest show is called “just jenny” and is on SIRIUS/XM STARS channel 107 monday through friday 1pm eastern time; she is also co-hosting a new show on Sirius/XM on Howard 101: “What’s Worth Watching,” with Jon Hein, radio personality and creator of the popular “Jump The Shark” website. Additionally Jennifer is a contributor to CNN’s stream team. She’s active on social media sites including Facebook , Twitter, and YouTube, and even answers people’s questions via video while exercising on the treadmill. Jennifer recently hosted “Whatever with Jennifer” on Sirius/XM (Channel 110).

Her first book, WHATEVERLAND: Learning to Live Here: An Exuberant and Hilariously Irreverent Guide to Life, was co-authored with Alexis Stewart and was published by John Wiley & Sons in October, 2011.

I'm not referring to my employment... Oh no, I love that! I am referring to being their...

Weeks ago I was asked to guest co-host a tv talk show. My appearance was confirmed this past Friday, and canceled late this morning before tomorrow's scheduled appearance.

Reason given: "The higher-ups changed their mind."

Reason heard: "The higher-ups hate you," "You're a loser," "You're not good enough," "Your...

If you've read WHATEVERLAND or listened to my radio show, you probably already know that I grew up with a dad in the music business. I spent many a day in a recording studio, met many recording artists, vacationed with Barbra Streisand, spent time with Dolly Parton, sat on stage...
