What Romney's 'Trust Me' Campaign Doesn't Want You to See

This is America, not ancient Troy. We're not just going to let in a giant horse because it has nice hair. We deserve a look inside, even if you don't want us to. And we're not going to like what we see.

Blind trust. It's what Mitt Romney has for his money. And it's what he wants from us. He wants us to trust him to be president without ever seeing who he really is.

"Trust me," he says. "My investments are totally legitimate and irrelevant. You don't need to see them. They're in a blind trust. Trust me."

"Trust him,"' his wife says. "You'd lucky to have Mitt Romney as president. Sure, everything you have seen is troublesome, but what you haven't seen is just wonderful. Trust me."

"Trust us," his running mate says. "We'll balance the budget, save Medicare and create 12 million jobs, but you don't need to see what tax loopholes, program cuts and impossible math it would require. Just trust me."

"Trust them," his campaign says. 'They're healthy, wealthy and several shades of tan. They've got a ton of money, beautiful families, and everything a person could want. If you elect them, they'll make sure you do, too. How? Just trust me. You don't need to see his tax returns or videos from $50,000 per person fundraisers or what he said five or 10 or 15 years ago or his policy details or anything at all. You just need to trust him."

Well, that's not good enough. This is America, not ancient Troy. We're not just going to let in a giant horse because it has nice hair. We deserve a look inside, even if you don't want us to. And we're not going to like what we see.

We're going to see a man who thinks a $250,000 salary is middle class, a would-be president who doesn't care about 47 percent of America. More importantly, we'll see a Mitt Romney who bets against America -- whether it's his investments in the Cayman Islands, or his investments in companies that hurt America or his selfish plea to "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt." Or maybe it's his proposed tax restructuring that will raise taxes on everyday people to fund tax cuts for millionaires.

If you want to see the real Romney and his real policy, follow the money, folks. The Bible says, "wherever your treasure lies, that's where you'll find your heart." Romney's treasure is the size of his own wallet, not yours, and it lies offshore, with his profits, our jobs, and a bunch of self-serving bets against America.

And that's what he doesn't want you to see.
