Boycott This!!

Posted April 15, 2008 | 10:14 AM (EST)

Finally U.S. politicians are making the hard decisions to stand up against brutal oppression.

A growing movement has emerged in recent days to pressure "President" George W. Bush to boycott the Republican Convention this August to protest war crimes committed by the Republican-led U.S. government in Iraq.

"We...

Depraved Indifference

Posted August 28, 2006 | 01:10 PM (EST)

Over ten years ago I started a short story I could never finish. It was called "Depraved Indifference," and to make a short story shorter, it was meant to describe the general state of modern social life. In the intervening decade or so any doubts I might have had about...

Military Ethics 101

Posted June 6, 2006 | 03:23 PM (EST)

In response to reports that US Marines committed atrocities at Haditha, alleged "US President" George Bush has said "nobody is more concerned about these allegations than the Marine Corps." While it might be arguable that the families, neighbors and friends of the victims of this vicious crime might, in fact,...

Time to Crack Down on Illegal Executives!

Posted May 21, 2006 | 05:07 PM (EST)

As a red-blooded American, I've had all I can take of these flagrantly Illegal Executives flooding into our Government. We have a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary of State, a Secretary of Defense, and an Attorney General who are in daily violation of scores, if not hundreds, of laws, and...

Whatcha Gonna Do About It?

So they've been collecting records of ALL our phone calls. Can anyone really claim to be surprised? I guess the same folks who were surprised there were no WMDs in Iraq. The folks who believe Iran is somehow a potential threat to anyone. (Oh, surely Israel, they squeal. Yeah, right....

Rear Entry: Did you hear about Colbert's Wife?

Posted May 5, 2006 | 10:55 PM (EST)

The major mystery everyone has been wondering about is how could intelligence have been so faulty as to have Steve Colbert get the gig at the Press Corps shindig. Who are they getting next year, Cindy Sheehan? Or better yet, David Hinkley?

My secret inside-high-level inside the white house,...

Impeachment? I'm So Over That!

Posted March 2, 2006 | 11:34 AM (EST)

Once upon a time it was kind of exciting to think about impeachment. It was in a golden age, maybe four months ago or so, when it seemed like plummeting public support due to the un-disguisable and indisputable failure of Bush's project in Iraq, the depraved indifference of government planning...

Message to the UN: Stop Us Before We Kill Again!

Posted February 22, 2006 | 12:03 AM (EST)

Well, blow me! The UN has actually found that the US concentration camp in Guantanamo constitutes a gross violation of international law. Ya think? Moreover, Secretary General Kofi Annan has called for the torture theme park to be shut down as soon as possible. So far, there appears to be...

Rear Entry Exclusive: Pat Robertson takes on the Sharon Family

Posted January 30, 2006 | 12:48 PM (EST)

It's been a news-busy couple of weeks. First, Our Leader went "on the offensive" (my guess is that Iraqis thought he was already "on the offensive" and everyone else just thought he was already "offensive") over his legal right to illegally wiretap anyone he thinks he oughtta. Then, there's been...

Resolved: Go to Jail!

Am I allowed to say Happy New Year? Is that taking the Christ out of the holiday? Happy One Week after our Savior's birth? Or, Happy New Year of the Lord?

Or maybe the point is, what's so happy about it?

I'm hearing a lot of holiday cheer...

I like Thanksgiving. Always have. Of course the turkey is usually dry, but everyone loves stuffing. Bringing up the whole thing about the Pilgrims wiping out the Indians always seemed a bit excessively guilt-trippy and overly specific to me. I never really related to the whole Pilgrim Fathers aspect to...

The Times Between the Lines

I sit down to a cup of coffee and today's NY Times. What's new?

Well, it seems the new democratic government of Iraq has been torturing people. Of course, with George "we don't torture" Bush as president, we aren't really ones to throw stones—even at adulterers. But, once the US...
