Shopping on your payday can be dangerous. But, shopping for a good cause is even more dangerous, because every time you hesitate on a purchase you can justify it as, "It's for a good cause."

Shopping on your payday can be dangerous. But, shopping for a good cause is even more dangerous, because every time you hesitate on a purchase you can justify it as, "It's for a good cause."
Which is exactly the situation Derin Ozsezen found herself in Thursday evening, at the preview for the Fashion for Sandy Relief sale.

Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast last month, designer Tory Burch has joined forces with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue for a special Fashion for Sandy Relief sale this Friday.
"I'm going to spend way too much, but I would never go into these shops normally, and knowing it's going to help people is even better," said Derin.

"I was lucky during Hurricane Sandy. Although I lost power, water and heat for a week, I had family in midtown I could stay with, and wasn't too displaced otherwise," she added.
At the preview, buyers, encouraged by handsome men serving champagne and margaritas, shopped current looks by designers including Tory Burch, Helmut Lang, Ralph Lauren, Acne and Vera Wang -- Carolina Herrera alone sent in 200 dresses.

"We all have friends, family and colleagues affected by Sandy, and everyone wanted to help. The industry's response has been incredible," said Tory Burch.
The CFDA and Vogue launched the Fashion for Sandy Relief with an online auction which included a week-long stay at CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg's Harbour Island home, attending a fashion show with Anna Wintour, a stay at Tommy Hilfiger's estate on the island of Mustique and lunch with Gwyneth Paltrow and Mario Batali.
Designer Michael Kors also pledged to give $1 million to help with Hurricane Sandy relief.
All proceeds from the auction and today's designer sale will benefit the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, which is providing food, water and hygiene supplies, as well as long-term relief and restoration efforts, to those affected by Sandy.
There will be up to 60 percent off in today's sale, which takes place at New York's Metropolitan Pavilion (123 West 18th Street) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Just think of it as shopping for a good cause.
