Jessie Alvarez, 16, is an activist and intern for the Plastic Pollution Coalition, writer, and junior at Oakwood School in Los Angeles, California. For two years she has worked on educating herself and the general public on the dangers, both medically and environmentally, of plastic. When she is not busy with school work, or another of her myriad of commitments, she enjoys writing fiction, reading, learning languages, building websites, and playing the ukulele. Jessie would describe herself as a total school nerd: she reads books about string theory in her free time and enjoys most math problems she encounters, yet she also loves sitting down to watch Clueless and paint her nails. One of her goals in life is to learn Spanish, Japanese, French, and Italian fluently. In one word, Jessie is busy.
