j.frede is a multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles whose work has been shown at The Berkeley Art Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, LeBasse Projects (Los Angeles), Machine Project (Los Angeles), Pirate Contemporary (Denver), Beyond Baroque (Venice, CA), Soundvision Gallery (Portland).

He has published the paperback ‘American Idle’; a collection of his journals as a taxi driver and entries about driving in Los Angeles. An art edition titled “illiteral” as well as the cover story for Juxtapoz Magazine on fellow artist Greg “Craola” Simpkins and numerous art related features for the Citrus Report.

In January 2014 Frede will be the Artist in Residence at The National Center for Contemporary Art in Kronstadt, Russia (St. Petersburg).
