Here's the lyrics-remember I only had one day to write the song. But I meant every word of it. Oh, also check out my pal Eban who brought in his Theremin:
I'm not a prude, but I'm not a fan....of
Women whose Halloween costume is just that they're slutty
That's not a costume at all. What happened to Witches and monsters?
They left the Halloween Ball
Okay, maybe if you play a dead prostitute from say Jack the ripper days or maybe a zombie whore from outer space. But the naughty devil outfit in lingerie? Well, that's...just not good

slutty Halloween costumes, big tattoos, girls gone wild= commodified rebellion
hey Jill- love you and your music - but don't you think you are just trying to define femininity for everyone?
isn't a Halloween costume a personal choice?
Isn't using a pic for your post of women dressed sexily for Halloween as exploitative as the costumes themselves?
young women trapped by the "girls gone wild" syndrome are rebelling as much against political correctness oppression on the left as oppression on the right.
ONe thing I think you ARE doing right is presenting the issue in a thoughtful way - and I am not trying to be critical as much as bring up questions your great song inspired
PEACE
Those three look like your typical average 14 and 15 year old kids these days.
What you expect when the internet has replaced parenting?
“Elvira, Mistress of the Dark” (Cassandra Peterson) gets 100 extra points from this trick or treater for looking and dressing that way.
Halloween is just another excuse to play dress-up (or in my case, dress my kids up). I really don't get non scary get-ups. French Maid? Fine, provided that maid is a French vampires victim.
I have four daughters... A couple get it, and the other two don't. The oldest wanted to be a "punk rocker". I'm more than old enough to remember the genre, but prefer musicians who can actually play. "What's necessarily scary about punks?" I asked. Then I though... Nancy Whatsherdeadface was pretty scary so I suggested her, post-mordem. "No" said my oldest. "Nobody knows who she is".
"As no one should" I thought.
I wanted the 4 of them to go out as Alex and his Droogs. No dice... The codpieces/jockstraps were a bit much, and they wanted stuff their friends knew. But everything their friends know is just a boring ass Disney version of stuff my generation invented.
Oh well... Another year of boring vague "punk" clothes, fairy princesses, and lady bugs.
Who is this holiday for anyway?
Halloween for adults is just New Year's Eve with better sex, better clothes, less clothes, less drinking.
I have to admit, I did see a very impressive sexy Bride of Frankenstein tonight.

Actually, if they want to dress for Halloween they need to dress like Elvira, now she is a slut with class.
Of course we know you exist--you kissed a girl! But not in a slutty way.
In the UK, Hallowe'en was never a big deal, so seeing how people -- especially women -- dress for the night over here was quite a jolt.
I always feel sorry for the actual prostitues on Hallowe'en night. I mean, how's a girl to get any business? What's she going to dress as - a nun?
Slutty for Halloween? More like every day. I was trying to trace back when women starting dressing more provocatively. Maybe after 9/11? Perhaps influenced by "Sex and the City?" Not that long ago cleavage in the workplace was verboten. Now it's commonplace. And yes, many young women now seem to emulate strippers. Further proof our nation is going to hell in a handbasket, I say!
As a progressive, the only place I find agreement with the disgusting fundies is the belief that sex is bad, and that women should NEVER be used as sex objects. Glad to find at least one enlightened mind like mine in Jill Sobill.
Sex=rape
Rape=silence
Silence=Bush
Kucinich/Obama 08!
Jill, I have loved you and your music for many years, but I'm not sure what the point of this "song" is. The word "slut" imposes judgment on a woman's sexuality and how she seeks to express and pursue it. Is that what you want to do, pass judgment because you find some women's projecting a "slutty" image - even in a Halloween costume - offensive to you? I mean, you're entitled to do that, of course, but I invite you to rethink the attitude on which your lyrics are based here. No, there's nothing particularly creative about that sort of costume, but it's kind of odd for you to get your knickers in a twist about it.
I saw a line of camel toe fashions which might be more interesting as a costume than just a regular slutty costume.
