Jill Van den Brule is a social entrepreneur and human rights advocate focused on leveraging partnerships for social impact. Her present focus is on "solar justice" through the provision of solar powered lights to developing countries. She was part of the UNICEF’s senior level management team responsible for coordinating youth policy development for the rebuilding of post-earthquake Haiti. Jill represented UNESCO in the groundbreaking UN Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and her initiatives have been featured at Davos at high level international fora and at Rio+20. She developed and co-taught a Masters seminar at Sciences Po, Paris. She has produced numerous documentary films for the UN and her work written and photographic work has been featured in books, journals, magazines and online publications. Jill has also been featured numerous times in publications such as New York Times, Huffington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, Reuters, Brazil’s TV Globo and has been a guest on a number of international TV networks. An innovative thinker and educator, she is also working on an interactive children’s book series based on her field experiences aimed at inspiring the next generation of engaged citizens. Jill holds a Masters degree from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and one from Sciences Po, Paris and an honors degree in from Barnard College, Columbia University
When she is not traveling, she can be found doing Bikram yoga or meditating. She has a passion for photography and recreational scuba and adores all forms of flight and dance. Her mantra is « Be the change you want to see in the world. »
