Jim Pivonka grew up on farms in Colorado and Kansas, graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in geology, and did graduate work at Stanford (NIPA fellowship) and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He is retired from a career in public administration and strategic issues management. His current interests include the philosophy of science, geology, paleontology, evolutionary biology, geography, history, politics, economics and computers.
