Easter is really fun (though kind of strange) for kids. You dye eggs all sorts of weird colors, sleep with one eye open hoping to catch a glimpse of a giant bunny, and then wake up at sunrise full of adrenaline to go on an Easter egg hunt. For adults, unless you have kids or go to a traditional, bonnet- and ambrosia-filled family dinner, Easter isn't all that exciting. A lot of us don't know what to do with ourselves on Easter, and often end up doing nothing at all. If you are a church-goer, then you probably already have this in the bag, but these tips are to help the rest of you make Easter more enjoyable. And don't worry if your religion doesn't celebrate Easter. You don't need to believe that Jesus rose from the dead to use our tips to enjoy a spring day.
1. Buy Easter Chocolate
One of our favorite things about Easter is the chocolate. Cadbury is the bomb, and we love that every year we have the chance (and the perfect excuse) to indulge is those awesome Cadbury Cream Eggs. We're sorry to say it, but European chocolates make Hershey's taste like garbage. Plus, their commercials are funny. Also, you can't forget about chocolate bunnies. (A particularly good one is from See's.) Chocolate bunnies are a fun little Easter treat that you can make last all week. Eat the ears on Sunday, the head on Monday, and the body on Tuesday and so on. Go buy as many cream eggs and chocolate bunnies as you can, enjoy a couple for yourself, and give the rest to friends and co-workers. It'll make Easter more fun for everybody.
2. Go On A Picnic
Organizing a picnic may sound like a lot of work, but once you get to the park it's always fun and relaxing. This Easter Sunday is the perfect time to do it and it can be simple. Just call up a few friends or bring your family, make some sandwiches, buy some cupcakes, bring some fruit, cheese and crackers and a case of beer and chill out on a blanket at your favorite park. Bring a Frisbee if that's your thing or just lie back and catch some warm spring rays.
3. Make A Bunny Cake
Making a bunny cake is not only a fun little baking project, but as cheesy as it sounds, it's really adorable and super impressive. You can bake it for your office, your neighbor, a guy or girl who twitterpates you, or just make it for yourself! Our mom is gonna kill us for giving up this "recipe," but here we go!
Find your favorite white boxed cake and pour the batter into 2 rounds cake pans. Bake it according to directions. Now, here's the hard part: cut one of the round cakes into thirds. Two of the thirds should be in the shape of parentheses, which will leave space in the middle. The first cut, on the left of the cake, should look like this: ) and the one on the right should look like this: ( and you will be left with three shapes that look like two years and a bowtie - yay!
Arrange the cake pieces on a platter with the whole circle for the face, the ears on top, and the bowtie under the face. Frost the whole thing, cover in coconut so it'll look furry and decorate it with jelly beans, licorice and chocolate chips for the eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers. It's just as much fun as building a snowman but way more delicious!
4. Have a Sunday Evening Get Together
If you don't like any of the other ideas, then just throw a party! Go ahead and order a Honey Baked Ham that comes with those yummy soft wheat rolls and all sorts of fun mustards, light some candles, throw chocolate eggs all over the place, and make Jell-O shots in different Easter colors. If you're the generous type, fill those hollow plastic eggs with fun little gifts, hide them around your house and make your friends hunt for them. You can fill them with $5 gift cards, cash, condoms, jelly beans, or anything else that will fit in there. Your friends may think you're crazy at first, but after 4 or 5 pastel-colored Jell-O shots, they'll do anything you say.

With the exception of the English language bible the latin languages bibles use the term Pascal, which interpreted means passover. the easter term seems to be in error as Christ is the Passover of Christians. The easter term was used to cater to the pagans in an effort to Christianize them by incorporating their paganism into Christianity. It compromises what the Christ is meant to be, which is to develop the Christ mind, the prefrontal cortex brain centers rather than the reptile brain which the easter pagan fertility rights celebrate.
When I was a kid in the 50/60's and we HAD to go to church, but I always looked forward to Easter Sunday in Ohio. All (5) of us kids got to get new clothes for the special occasion and then we came home from hours at church to a huge dinner with all the homemade fixin's and a huge basket of candy each and then we got to hide the Easter eggs we dyed the night before. They sure are great memories.
Now I'm an Atheist. Ha! Woo Hoo! Sorry Gee-Sus...
And Jesus says, "Sorry, PDXTransplant."
Here in upstate NY in March, there's still snow on the ground (not enough to enjoy with cross-country skiing or snowshoeing -- just enough to melt and re-freeze and create patches of ice that my son slipped on yesterday). My kids are going to need boots and mittens for their Easter egg hunt. I may be closed-minded about these things, but a picnic in a parka is not my idea of fun. I liked the other ideas, though.
The celebration of Spring was happening WAY BEFORE the bizarre 'celebration' of a man's tortured death.
CELEBRATE LIFE - CELEBRATE SPRING:
The Spring Equinox is associated with, or known as: Alban Eilir, Eostar, Eostre, Feast of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Festival of Trees, Lady Day, NawRuz, No Ruz, Ostara, Ostra, Rites of Spring, and the Vernal Equinox.

Ishtar as well.
There is only one reason to get excited about Easter. If you don't believe, make up a corresponding secular holiday like Festivus for Christmas and do those four things. More power to you.
Where do you live? Drinking beer in the park is rather frowned upon by law enforcement in Ohio... still sounds like a plan.
Um, how about contemplate the historical, religious, spiritual, or symbolic meaning of the holiday?
Woooooooo, con-tem-plate! Con-tem-plate! Woooooooo!
The title's "4 Ways to Get *Excited* for Easter," poindexter. ;)
As a middled-aged fogey who has been known to have a stick up her butt on many an occasion, I thank you for the laugh, JuniorBug!
Well, there's this: http://spiritual-happiness.com/easter.html
But you don't really care for music, do you Junior Bug?
Probably best to stick with the bunny cake.
Easter is the oldest known celebrated holiday of all time and is completely pagan in origin. It celebrates the concepts of rebirth and renewal.
Since we just had 10 inches of snow dumped on us 2 days ago and we can't plant anything or work the gardens - I suggest a celebration of this holiday in bed . . . .
